Disney’s March of the FIRST ORDER – REVIEW

Love Star Wars?  How about the Stormtrooper March, known as March of the First Order.

Hey guys, today we will talk about one of my FAVORITE things at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – the Stormtrooper March, also known as March of the First Order.  This is a totally cool, semi-intimidating “parade” like event that happens daily, every hour, on the hour, in the daytime AND perfect for ANY Star Wars Fan.

I remember when I first saw it, it was a few years back, the kids were SO much younger and very new to the world known as Star Wars.  We were waiting for our late breakfast reservations at Hollywood & Vine and sitting on a bench when I start hearing the “March” music…you know the tune when Darth Vader is entering a room.  I ran to the center of the park with my camera ready for action and was amazed.  I think I even cried.  How did I not know this was happening…turns out it was NEW, very, very NEW…I witnessed one of the first shows they ever did.  It was so amazing, thrilling and a bit scary…I mean this was before Stormtroopers were walking the park searching for the Resistance.  To see them ALL march like that, to music…Dark Side music…I mean you skip a beat a little.

The kids, of course, wondered why mom ran away and they join me…front and center.  We were hooked.  I had to hold my youngest hand, but he (secretly) loved it too.  WE saw it 3 times that day, lol.

What is it?  Basically it is what it sounds like…it’s Stormtroppers marching.  They march down Hollywood Boulevard towards the stage that is center to the park, directly in front of the Chinese Theater.  They march like they do in the movies, like when they are following a Dark leader AND in this case…they are following the leadership of Captain Phasma – eek.  She actually speaks and commands that people give up Resistance followers and join the First Order.  Between her voice, the music and the sounds of several marching Stormtroppers…you step back a little.  They march to the stage, do a little show (which has changed a few times).  I won’t spoil it, but the mini show is a nice way to complete the march and even see a few surprise characters.

The March of the First Order

If you want to see the show, up front and close…wait near the stage.  If you want a clear view of the march, watch from the street, store front on Hollywood Boulevard.  Watch it a few times, watch it every hour if you want…but if you are a STAR WARS FANATIC like me, you will WATCH, CRY and Repeat!

Watch out…the First Order is coming.

NOTE – if you have young padawans or kids who aren’t into Star Wars or on the intimidated side…you might want to watch it first before inviting them…or just skip it.  I have heard from a few clients that it was too “intense” for their younglings.  Just a heads-up.  But my growing Star Wars Nerds love it and at this point follow Stormtroppers around the park hoping they will arrest them for being “good”.  Kids, lol.

Let me know what you think of the show and ENJOY!!  I would love to talk Star Wars some more (I can’t wait for Galaxy’s Edge), contact me for a quote if looking to vacation at Disney.  Mahalo for Reading and FOLLOWING along.  Did you know you can sign up for Blog Emails?  Nina

NEW Characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Love meeting the Disney Characters – READ to learn about the NEW Characters located at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Hey guys, shorter post today…on what’s new at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  While at Walt Disney World last week I stumbled upon 2 NEW characters, Edna Mode and Fancy Nancy.  Then a few days later another NEW character was announced.  Lets take a look.

Pixar Place:

So as the ride Toy Story Mania was “relocated” to Toy Story Land…wait what???  How can they move an entire ride, lol.  Ok, you got me…they only relocated the FRONT entrance…but it totally feels like they moved the ride, the old Toy Story area feels so empty…it was odd and very unfamiliar.  BUT they are revamping that area into Pixar Place – YAY!!!  Featuring the Incredibles!!  They have a few experiences in the area…but I found Edna meeting Guests in her own (inside) area.  I met Edna 1 month back at Disneyland on Pixar Pier and she was most delightful.  It was a pleasure to see her again.  Its amazing, perhaps we should share flights as we are apparently “vacationing” in the same places 😉

In the same general area you can also meet Sully and Mike from “Monsters Inc”.  Love my fury friends from Monsters, but waiting for Randall or Boo…I wanta meet Randall Boggs and want him to match my Mouse Ears when he camouflages…would be a cute pic 🙂

Launch Bay Area:

If you keep on going, towards the Launch Bay area (where of course you can currently meet a few Star Wars Characters)…you will bump right into Fancy Nancy.  I must say she was very popular and had the sweetest disposition.  Little girls were running up to meet her, screaming her name in excitement.  In the same area; Pluto and Vampirina are listed.  Vampirina we meet at sea (Disney Cruise Line) last November and she was very spooky in the friendliest of ways.  Another hit character to catch, just watch out though…she might fly away if she turns into her Batty self.    NOTE – Both Fancy Nancy and V “might” be at Hollywood & Vines Character Breakfast (which is something I will book for all my clients on the Meal Plan).  So that’s another FUN way to meet the Disney Jr ladies.

Isn’t Vampirina super cute!!

And the NEWEST of NEW…so NEW she isn’t even on the app yet – Bo Peep!  Yep I posted about her last week and she has been meeting other “toys” in the Toy Story Land area.  So while catching up with Jessie, Woody and Buzz…see if you can find Bo, she may be looking for her sheep?!?!

I LOVE meeting the characters and so do my kids…its something we have yet to grow out of and after seeing teens and young adults running up to characters…I think its a Magical Experience for ALL.  Pack your Signature book and Sharpie and ENJOY!!  After all we are ALL kids at heart and when at Disney, it shines the most and is a very welcomed feeling.

Woody’s Lunch Box – NEW Disney Dining REVIEW

Headed to Hollywood Studios?  Check out Woody’s Lunch Box, a Quick Service Dining Location at Disney World.

Hey FANS, today we will dig a little deeper into Toy Story Land and look into this NEW Dining Location in the area – Woody’s Lunch Box.  First this location is a QUICK Service location, meaning NO waitress and it means you NEED to find your own seat.  Seating is OUTDOORS and during peak times – it can be hard to find a seat.  Perhaps send one person scouting for a table, while the other orders.  SCORE if you get one in the shade.

See the Top – its a LUNCH BOX, an old school Metal Lunch Box. The side is the Thermos.

Atmosphere:

This location might be the CUTEST place I have ever eaten at.  Think the INSIDE of a kids (Andy’s) Lunch Box (old-School) with a thermos, animal crackers, juice box, etc.  This entire area is themed like that.

Food:

The Menu is basically kids lunch food, items you might send to school, items you might find in a kids cafeteria (just short of pizza/mac & cheese); Sandwiches with tots and punch.  With the BIG HIT being TOTCHOS (this is what my friend ordered and she enjoyed it).  Who doesn’t love TOTS and NACHOS!!

Quick Service Dining Menu…

My FOOD:

Disclaimer – I am vegan with LOTS of Food Allergies, so I am limited to what I can eat, but thrilled to have options.  I, do however, always travel with those that can order directly off the menu, so I am fully aware of the general items as well and if they were tasty or not (I keep notes).  For my most recent visit – I ordered BOTH items a Vegan can have.  Vegan Totchos and a Vegan (dairy-free) Grilled Cheese.  I took one for the team and ordered TOO much food.

  • Vegan Totchos:  They came with TOTS, vegan chili (bean base), Frito’s (corn chips), dairy-free cheese shreds and green onions on top.  I am NOT a huge fake Cheese fan so next time I will ask for just a sprinkle (as they didn’t melt), but I found this option to be yummy and I 100% would order again.  My oldest kid would also enjoy this meal.
  • Vegan Grilled Cheese: I got a Vegan (dairy-free) Grilled Cheese, a mini cup of tots and a Cutie orange.  I couldn’t eat the other options so I was limited, but I love tots…just had LOTS of TOTS this day, lol.  Sadly I did not like this item, like at all.  I felt it lacked flavor for starters and why oh why do people think fake cheese needs to be mounted up.  Melted cheese was dripping and spilling out everywhere, it was extremely messy and hard to eat.  I was disappointed in this option and so glad the kids weren’t with me as they would have HATED this sandwich.  I was hoping this would be more than just bread and cheese, for the price I would have loved some flavor.  At home, I make mine with mustard and pickles, even dipping it in ketchup wasn’t enough, lol.  And please oh please…if you order this, ask for less cheese.
  • Food Allergy wise:  I found the staff very easy to talk too, they called a chef immediately (even though I knew what I could have).  The Chef/Manager cooked it themselves (I could watch them do it) after discussing the menu with me.  It did take several mins to get (but I will happily wait for SAFE food).  In fact while I was waiting, 3 other families asked for a chef behind me…seeking safe food.  The lady next to me was GF and also ordered the Grilled Cheese (Dairy version).  My meals came out with the Allergy Stick and I confirmed again that it was Dairy-Free, no cheese, no butter.

Everyone around me appeared to enjoy their food.  Lots of happy people eating.  This is a POPULAR place, so be prepared to wait in line and wait for a table.  We ended up sharing our table with an English couple seeking shelter from the sun, they also enjoyed their meal.  I was hungry and left full.  But most of all, I enjoyed looking around and seeing all the little details of this location.  Another BRAVO DISNEY!  Next time Disney, I’d suggest an actual shelter (perhaps an old Pizza Cardboard box or Cereal Box) from the sun and perhaps more tables.  I would also LOVE more options to eat (but I say this about every location; vegan soup, vegan dessert, flavorful sandwich, Vegan nuggets, etc).

I hope this helped anyone deciding to dine at Woody’s Lunch Box, its kinda a must when in the area, they have breakfast too.  And if you have Food Allergies, they were a popular place to dine and seemed able to accommodate all the allergies in line.  Mahalo for Reading and Following along – Nina
