Mickey’s NOT So Scary Halloween Party

I get so many people curious about this party. Stay tuned to learn more and get my honest review on Mickey’s Halloween Party.

Hey guys, long time no post. Sorry about that, I have been a busy girl; traveling, working, booking vacations for you all. But I was able to sneak away and visit Universal Orlando (stay tuned), but while I was in Orlando, I had to pop over to Disney’s Magic Kingdom and enjoy one of my FAVORITE parties. Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a special ticketed event that often poses the question – is it worth it? Should I spend the $$ for this party? Read on…

Trick or Treating:

For many, this seems to be the BIG draw…trick or treating at Disney. But of course this party is SO much more…but since it’s the subject at hand…here you go. There are several stations set up to treat at. They even have amazing accommodations for Food Allergies (stay tuned). Basically you get a treat bag when you enter the event and then treat around Magic Kingdom. Heads-up…the stations are rather spaced out to accommodate crowds, you do have to wind and twist a bit at some stations. But…you are getting CANDY. Decent Candy. I would say you get about 2-3 pieces PER station.

Characters:

For many in the know…this is a HUGE draw for this party. Special, not typical, characters do come out of the shadows to greet guests at this event. I was disappointed to not see more villains, but perhaps children don’t want to meet Maleficent?? Crowds line up FAST for certain characters, aka Jack & Sally, so if this is on your list…be ready to wait. I found Jack Sparrow, Jafar, Tarzan, Jane and Turk but I know there were WAY more. This just wasn’t on my list, that particular night. They have a list of characters on the map, so you will know where to go and wait.

The SHOW, aka Hocus Pocus:

So this, this was my focus. I LOVE Hocus Pocus, I just can’t get enough of those sparky Sanderson Sisters. So after treating for a few, I sat and sat and sat for about 1 hour, front row and center…waiting for the show to start. No one entertains like Disney and this show never disappoints. Complete with iconic songs, vast and various villains and the finale with “I put a spell on you”. Getting to see Oogie Boogie was an added delight. I very much enjoyed the songs, dancing and lighting. Yep, I said lighting. The projections on the castle during the show were amazing and really help bring it all together.

Parade and Fireworks:

This party also includes one of my FAVORITE parades, Boo-To-You!! The graveyard dancers are my jam. The way they dance with shovels and drag them on the cement to welcome sparks to fly…all in the darkness, just adds to the delight of it all. I love the Haunted Mansion bride and the Grim Grinning Ghosts float. The firework spectacular is just as impressive with amazing projections dancing to the beat of spooky Disney tunes across the castle. I could watch that ALL night. Disney just doesn’t skip a beat.

The Skinny:

So as amazing as this party is and was…there are some points to consider. It was very, very crowded. I went on Friday the 13th, but I am hearing from others that this party is more crowded than previous years. Perhaps due to the discounted additional ticket locals can upgrade too, allowing them to go as much as they want? It was ALOT of walking. This isn’t an issue for locals or people just showing up for the party, but for people who have been theme parking all day…to walk and walk and treat and wait in lines…it can tire fast. Of course it rained, but that won’t happen every night??

And my single adult ticket was $90+. So think about that when getting for your entire family. It was an awesome, amazing time THAT was crowded, late night and tiring. Will I always remember it, yes. Would I do it again, yes. Would I do it again with my family (I have younger kids who get cranky in the evening, lol)…perhaps not. I really think it depends on your kids and your understanding that this isn’t a cake walk. Of course as a plus, the rides were all walk on šŸ™‚ I personally can’t wait to do it again and can see why the locals RAVE about it.

Mickeys Very MERRY Christmas Party – Disney World

Thinking about visiting Disney World over the Holidays? Wondering if the Christmas Party is right for you? READ on…

Hey fans, as I know its TOO early to talk Christmas, in Disney terms…its not. Welcome to Christmas in July where we discuss the Holidays 6 months early. I am, of course, referring to the Holiday Party – Mickeys Very MERRY Christmas Party. It happens every Nov/Dec and is the BEST way to bring on your Christmas Spirit or is it?

Mickey’s Very MERRY Christmas Party
IS it RIGHT for me:

Deciding to do or not to do the Holiday party, either Holiday Party, is a common question and its usually something I discuss on a case by case basis. Families with young kids, people who sleep early, people who have an already active trip might want to think carefully about this. People who love late nights, who have a few extra $$…this is definitely a good option.

What IS the Party:

In basic terms, the party is ringing in the Holiday season with Disney cheer. Parades, Fireworks, Holiday dressed Characters, Holiday music and Dance Parties, Holiday treats, Hot Chocolate and Rides. Don’t forget that the rides are also open. AND…if in the right spot, it will snow on Main Street as Santa joins the parade towards the finale. Nothing beats snow in the Magic Kingdom šŸ™‚ WATCH the PARADE live…

The Skinny:

The party usually starts at 7pm and runs until Midnight or so. General guests get kicked out (ok escorted out) at 6pm, which gives Party people 1 hour to roam the parks with only other party guests. Each party guest is given a special wristband and you are welcomed by Holiday clad Cast Members with Cookies and Treats. Lots of photo opportunities with backdrops, characters and decor. NOTE: Think your Holiday Card. Many comes dressed to celebrate; some in matching outfits, some in Holiday PJs and some with festive sweaters and Mouse Ears. Its a LONG, LATE Magical Night.

Is it Worth the Price:

So its no secret, this party is $$$, easily about $100+ per person. But the answer is YES, YES its worth the cost. But its only worth it, if you will enjoy it. If you aren’t dragging tired kids along. If you aren’t being a Grinch yourself due to the long park day you have already encountered. I mention the negative side as I have seen some things, let me tell you. Not everyone is in the Christmas Spirit and that goes for the kids and some adults. BUT if you are looking for a way to ring in the Holidays, LOVE parades and Disney Characters…then this could be the party for you.

Like I said, I help my clients with this, and other concerns/questions on a case by case basis. Only you can determine if this is the right fit for your family and your pocketbook. It was YEARS before I took my own kids as I wanted them to get the FULL enjoyment out of the party. But once my daughter saw it, she made it to about 10:30 and LOVED it. She always asks to do it again.

Hope this helped. Mahalo for READING and FOLLOWING along – Nina
