My FAVORITE things to do at Disneyland

Disneyland is SO different from Disney World, that there are few things I NEVER miss. READ on about my favorite things at Disneyland.

Hey guys, I am in FULL ON PACKING mode and getting excited for our upcoming family adventure to DISNEYLAND. I get alot of people who say, well I never plan to go there…so not gonna bother reading your posts or watching your videos about it. But I am here to tell you, WHY? Why not swing over to the original? Its an amazing vacation, you can get more done in a shorter time and price is usually about the same or less. Learn about what makes Disneyland unique and my FAVORITE park to visit.

Cars Land:

I post about this often, or at least I feel like I do…its because we LOVE it and there is NOTHING like it at Disney World. The entire land is SO immersive and bright and amazing. There is 3 awesome rides with 1 being the TOP ride for Disney’s California Adventure Park. I mean who wouldn’t want to Race with Lightning McQueen or stroll down Route 66 into Radiator Springs. AND who won’t want to walk past Tow Mater as he is strolling to his next meet & greet. And don’t get me started about how it looks at night, OMG!

Pixar Pier:

Again, another AMAZINGLY creative area that has nothing on Disney World. Its the Incredibles, Inside Out, Toy Story and more ALL wrapped into 1 area. There is a coaster, a carousal, fun fair games, NEW rides and everyone’s favorite – Toy Story Mania. But its the view that you get from Mickey’s Fun Wheel, now known as the Pixar Pal-A-Round is breathtaking. Nothing like putting all your favorite Pixar characters in 1 spot.

Indiana Jones:

No, I am not talking about the stage show that is at Hollywood Studios. This is an actual ride. A very crazy, bouncing and intense ride that puts you in the middle of the action. Explore with Indy and watch out for snakes and arrows and gun shuts. Ride a Jeep like vehicle that has 3 different tracks…you just never know what adventure you will be on. NOTE: Keep those kiddies on the inside as mine always feel like they are gonna fall out. Same with your personal belonging, strap those down securely.

Fantasyland:

So yes, Disney World has Fantasyland, but Disneyland has the original rides which WDW doesn’t have. Rides that bring back my childhood memories. Gotta love Snow White’s Scary Adventure or Mr’s Toads Wild Ride. The original Dumbo. The view from Dumbo is amazing, love shooting up as high as it can go and just enjoying the scenery. Disneyland also has Mickey’s ToonTown and the Nemo Submarine Ride.

The FOOD:

Last but not least is the FOOD. Since Disneyland is in California, the food there is completely different. Different flavors, styles and very fresh. They have continued to grow their healthy vibe with lots of Vegan options. And with Downtown Disney being a walk away, you can enjoy all the tastes and offerings from up-in-coming HIT restaurants. No need to get tired of park food at Disneyland, so many choices…so little time. I especially love the Mexican themed restaurant in Disneyland, its a family favorite and we go every trip. We can’t get enough of our Rice & Beans 🙂

This is just a taste of what I love about Disneyland, but I tried to keep it different from Disney World. Do you love Disneyland? Whats your favorite parts?

Why I LOVE Disney, let me count the ways…

Wondering why people think Disney is the BEST Vacation? Curious why people will go back and back and back again? READ on for Why I Love Disney.

Hey Fans, I am sitting here trying to think about what to post next and I remembered a visit we just had at the Eye Doctor. She, our Dr, had recently visited a few “other” theme park destinations and was very disappointed as they just weren’t Disney. As I am listening to her story, she is explaining what she noticed and how Disney is just SO much better and worth the price difference. So…it got me thinking…for those that are NEW to Disney, who haven’t tasted the Disney Kool-Aid yet – here are a few reasons why we love to Disney.

Service:

So this is no secret, Disney is known for its amazing service. But I often get asked for examples. I have thousands, but of course can’t name them all but here are a few that stand out, at the moment. The Cast Members, those sweet Disney employees. They are there to help create the Magic, they are part of the show. This means doing everything and anything, most of the time unexpectedly. Like the time a Cast Member sent my son a cake for his birthday. Still clueless on how that happened, allergy safe too. Or the time a CM saw my daughter and I walking down main street and asked us if we had Memory Maker. I said, yes…so he walked us to a secret location and took the most incredible pictures of us.

Cleanliness:

So this gets mentioned by my clients ALL THE TIME. They can’t believe how clean the parks are. Disney really does go out of their way to have the cleanest parks. Walt would walk Disneyland and watch park-goers. He would watch them get a snack, eat it and see how many steps it took before they were ready to trash. This is why trash cans are everywhere and they are strategically placed based on where the snacks/eats are. ALL CM’s are to pick up trash anytime they see it, no matter their title. NO Gum is sold at the parks, so no sticky rides, walkways or table tops. There are more examples, but trust me…Disney is very clean.

Themeing:

Disney has the BEST theming. In fact they created the concept, it adds to the magic. Some “other” parks have great theme placement too, but its not the ENTIRE park, usually just a section. Disney’s attention to detail is hands down amazing. Did you know that each “land” has different music and as you walk thru the different zones, the music changes…it’s so subtle you barely notice it unless you are looking for it. The entire park is themed and the transitions from one to the other are spotless. Heck, even the garbage cans are in character. CM costumes are another example. Did you know they aren’t allowed to walk from one land to another if they are in a specific lands costume. Make sure to look up and around and see the details, the hidden Mickeys and the transitions from one area to the next.

“Incredible” Garage Cans!!
Positive Vibes:

Disney is happy. It feels happy the moment you arrive, enter the park and walk around. The colors, the music, the gardens, the people…just happiness all around. The cast members are happy. As you walk down Main Street, they are smiling at you, welcoming you, waving and almost cheering you on for a good day. I love how even the security guards are happy and smiling. As they go through bag after bag, listening to who knows what from other park-goers…they are cheerful.

There are probably thousands of reasons why Disney is amazing. Why I can say…I love Disney to the Moon and Back. Why I will go over and over again AND I am not alone. The reason they are a bazillion $$ company. Once people drink the Disney Kool-Aid, they are hooked. I have several clients who claim they are only going once, a ONE and DONE vacation…well they went back and back again. If you’ve been, why do you LOVE Disney. Let me know in the comments.

I just arrived to Disney, now what??

So you are headed to Disney, you just got off the bus and NOW?? What to do next? READ ON and see what I do once I arrive.

Hey Fans, I get this question alot too. Many who are new to Disney are often worried they might forget something, miss something or do it wrong. These are things I help with and coach my peeps on. But one question I always get is…what should I do once I arrive? So Enjoy…

Check-IN:

So this is a no-brainer – once you arrive to your resort, you should check-in. But perhaps you didn’t realize that this is also a good time to ask questions. Ask questions about your room, your resort and perhaps what is happening in the parks while you are there. This is also the BEST time to make sure your Magicbands (Disney World) work, as in…are synced up and will open your resort room. Disney, sadly, frequents glitches in the system – so making sure your bands are all set can save lots of hassle and time in the parks.

MAPS:

I 100% always grab maps. You can ask for maps at check-in OR find them on display somewhere in your resort. You will want to grab several maps for each park. Pass them around to husbands/kids/etc. Pack a marker and a highlighter and circle/mark ALL your eats locations and fastpasses. This helps visualize your day. It also helps you figure out where you are going before you arrive – to prevent that “deer in headlights” experience. When at rope drop, the last thing you want to do is pull out a map. You will want to run, aka walk fast, to your destination and know if you need to turn left or right.

Time Guide:

While grabbing those maps or chatting with your check-in Cast Member, make sure to grab a Times Guide. This is the CURRENT and most updated list of ALL timed activities. Think parades, special shows, entertainment and park hours. Make sure to also grab your resort calendar in case you have time to hang at your resort and enjoy an activity.

Unpack:

Again, another NO-Brainer. But, I don’t just unpack, in fact I actually don’t unpack my clothes (I live out of my suitcase)…I just unpack my toiletries and my needed items for the following day. What I really like to do is get my park bags and everything I might need for the next day OUT and ready. This means I transition my airplane bag into my park bag. I make sure I have out the sunscreen, sunglasses, character books, etc. I get out all the snacks, breakfast items, etc. So the next morning is less stressful and more organized. Everything is out, packed and ready for park fun.

Resort Exploration:

And…I like to explore my resort (assuming its a NEW one). Walk the paths, get an idea of where to catch the bus, see where to grab a snack and visit the pools. I make sure I know where I need to go the following day. AND I always shop the Sundries shop and make sure we have everything we need for breakfast the next morning. Purchase juice, cereal, bars, etc. Grab bowls, spoons, napkins and such so morning can be as smooth as possible.

And if you haven’t noticed I am very Type A, beyond organized. I travel the same way. I make sure I am always set for the next day. Last thing I want to do is walk 10 mins within my resort to find a spoon or purchase juice when I could do it the night before and wake up to a smooth day. Crazy? Yes, I know. Its how I roll 🙂
