Boy Meals at Disney World

Thinking about heading to Disney World, but you have ALL boys. Worried that Disney is too much princess and not enough Pirate, READ ON…

Dear Nina, I saw your recent FB Post on getting Princess meals for some little girls. As fun as that sounds, what do you do for boys? I have all boys and I don’t think they will enjoy a Princess Meal. Do you have any suggestions? Where should we eat? Any Cars, Toy Story or Star Wars Meals? Any boy meals at Disney World? HELP!?!? We are so excited to be working with you, thanks for booking our dining. Sam.

Hey Sam, thanks for the question and I actually get this often. Disney is a LOT of Princess, it is. Princesses are in most every Disney Movie and are the foundation for Walt’s early Animations, story-lines. So it makes since that Disney would promote Princesses, but I get it. I have a boy too:)

So read below for some suggestions on boy meals at Disney World. But if it helps, my son has done ALL of the Princess Meals and loved them. You would be amazed how flirty and cute the little boys get when meeting Ariel or Aurora. Its a precious moment. And I have had boy families enjoy a princess meal or two, for the Boy Moms wanted to fulfill their own dreams. The boys took one for the team and secretly enjoyed it 🙂 Keep following my page for more tips & tricks and I can’t wait to book your dining:

Toy Story:

Many families ask me about a Toy Story meal and as there isn’t currently a Toy Story Meal with characters, you can enjoy a fun Quick Service Meal in Toy Story Land called Woody’s Lunch Box. And NOTE – a NEW Table Service Toy Story meal is in the making, but we don’t know if it will or will not be a character meal at this time. Here’s hoping.

Sci-Fi Dine-In:

I love this restaurant location and so does my son. As I don’t want to classify it as a boy meal, it does involve classic cars and sci-fi, lol. Who wouldn’t want to dine in a classic car while watching vintage sci-fi commercials on a giant movie theater screen WHILE eating classic Americana eats like Burgers, Fries and Milkshakes. NOTE: you can get Vegan or Dairy-Free Shakes!! Our FAVORITE treat!

Character Meals:

There are also several NON Princess Character Meals on property. Again, can’t call them boy meals, but boys love them too. Try Tusker House, Garden Grill, Ohana, or Chef Mickeys. You might meet Minnie, but she loves all 🙂 Sadly there aren’t any rough and tumble boy character meals like say Pirates/Peter Pan or Star Wars Characters but that would be amazing. Disney, if you are reading, this is what we want!!

PRO- TIP:

Since there aren’t any Character Meals set for just boys, per-say, I found that knowing where to meet those characters your boys are hoping to find saves the day. You can 100% meet Woody, Buzz, Chewie, Kilo Ren, Lightning McQueen and even Cruz. Princesses might seem everywhere, thanks to those Disney commercials, but they really aren’t. Plenty of magic for all to enjoy. As your Travel Agent we can discuss this at great detail to make sure we are booking the right “boy” meals for your family. But in general, I find most meals are perfect for all, boys & girls alike.

5 FREE things at Disney World

After spending your savings to vacation at Disney, LEARN about 5 things that are FREE.

Dear Nina, we are SO excited about our trip. Thanks again for all of your help and spot-on advice. I am wondering what else I need to save for, outside of our Disney Resort Package. Anything that is FREE, lol? Anything we can enjoy without an extra cost? Thanks again – Tim.

Hi Tim, I am SO excited for your family!! So based on your package, you are ALL set with the Resort, Park Tickets and Food, so all you need to save for are tips (Waitress, Housekeeping, Bell Service, Bus Driver, etc) and Souvenirs. PS – I think everyone NEEDS Mouse Ears 🙂

As far as FREE, not sure if this is what you are talking about, but many people don’t realize the following things (see my list). Not to mention I get asked often if the shows, parades, etc are FREE – they are!! My family LOVES the Shows, they are so well put together and the acting/singing is top-notch, think Broadway. Keep following my page for more tips & tricks and enjoy my LIST of FREE items at Disney:

#1 – Celebration Pins:

So, this might not seem like a HUGE perk, but all Disney Visitors can get a Celebration Button. So if you are celebrating a Birthday, Wedding Anniversary, Engagement, Milestone or like that one time I celebrated a “Trip SANS Kids”…I got a button for FREE. Ask at your resort or Guest Services in the Parks.

#2 – ICE WATER:

Again, might not seem like a HUGE win, but when you take into the cost of bottled water at the parks, FREE is sure a deal. You can ask for FREE Ice Water at ANY Quick Service Dining Location. TIP: Pack a refillable water bottle or sippy cup and pour that water in – no need to hunt down straws or lids.

#3 – KIDCOT FUN SPOT:

SEE my EPCOT post on this one, but WOW what fun. Your kids can explore all the countries in the World Showcase and collect Cards from ALL the countries, not to mention learn a few NEW words from around the world. Take the time to talk to the Cast Members, they always make our trip special and very magical.

#4 – WILDERNESS EXPLORES:

Head over to Animal Kingdom for this FUN Activity. I get so many people who think Animal Kingdom won’t be a FULL day park, well once your kids fall in love with collecting “badges” from this activity, you will find yourself exploring Animal Kingdom ALL DAY. You can’t miss these zones, look for the Wilderness Explores Signs or Cast Members dressed like Russel from UP.

#5 – CARDS:

Did you know there are 2 types of cards you can collect on property? One being from the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom Scavenger Game and the other comes from Transportation (Wild About Safety) posts around property. Who else loves the Timon & Pumbaa Safety Spot Cartoons that play in your Disney Resort Room, well now you can collect cards 🙂 The Sorcerers game is SO much fun, especially if you have time to kill in the parks or are living with a gamer.

MNSSHP, Perfect for Childless Millennials

Are you kid free? Or perhaps want to be for just ONE night? READ on for why I think MNSSHP is perfect for those Childless Millennials.

Hey Fans, It’s almost Halloween, my FAVORITE time of year and it has me thinking of my favorite party, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I was lucky enough to attend this year and without children. It was AMAZING!! I felt very free. I felt like a Childless Millennial, so it got me thinking, MNSSHP is perfect for those without kids.

Trick or Treat:

So as I am standing there with my costume on and a bag just waiting to be filled with candy, I am thinking…should I be doing this? Isn’t this just for kids? I looked around and quickly noticed I was NOT alone. The amount of young adults or even older adults without kids was massive. Not to mention the amount of “parents” who were also holding bags of candy. This tradition, that is usually reserved for children, is awakened at Disney. For that adult that wished they could have treated just one more year or wish they could dress up in a fun costume without being that “slutty” nurse (again) this party is PERFECT!!

The Characters:

As I watched stroller after stroller waiting in line for characters (hoping their kids behaved or were still awake), there were Childless Millennials having the time of their lives. Perhaps they waited in a line or two, but they were laughing, taking pictures, having a great time. No need to worry about bedtimes, fussy toddlers or getting that perfect picture of Johnny looking at the camera. When it was their turn, they took selfies and chatted with the characters (yes adults like characters) on a different level. They helped their friends take the perfect shot and making sure everyone got the picture they wanted. They swapped their candy with each other, eating all the sugar they wanted…while enjoying every single aspect of the party without worry.

The Shows/Parades:

Being an adult, they were able to enjoy the shows from any view point. No need to arrive early and secure a curb seat (unless wanted). They could enjoy the party to the fullest, then just walk up right before the parade and enjoy. I remember thinking to myself, you can’t do that with kids. With kids you need a good seat or they can’t see. So you arrive early, miss parts of the party so Susie can see it all. Then after the show, they were gone…off to do something else. They didn’t need to put kids back in a stroller or make sure kids didn’t pass out, thus time to leave. And better yet, they could do the later shows and keep treating, riding and meeting characters while everyone with kids skipped out early to see ALL the first shows. No bedtime has its perks.

FUN for all:

On the way to the party, that night, I ran into 4 “Childless Millennials”. I knew they were as they had pins on that labeled them as such. They were dressed so cute, looked so happy and excited…just as I was. Childless Millennials are children grown up, they are ME before I had kids. They are in a great stage in their lives where they can enjoy, explore and create without the worry of children. So, you have to admit…doing events like MNSSHP without kids has its perks. It was so nice to see people of all ages and stages enjoying themselves. So Childless Millennials, Enjoy!! I had fun being you, I missed my kids but I think I missed my freedom a little bit more that night.
