Disneys Yacht Club Resort: Hotel REVIEW

Thinking about Disney World? Hoping to see Galaxy Edge? READ about this resort…Yacht Club.

Hey guys, getting lots of calls/emails/messages about the NEW Star Wars Land, Galaxys Edge. I, for sure, have lots of advice and tips but one is this resort. NOT only is it a FAVORITE of mine, but it would be the BEST place to stay if Star Wars is #1 on your list. Disney World Yacht Club:

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort
The Resort:

Disney’s Yacht Club is a Deluxe resort located between both Epcot and Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. It has a sister resort, for which its connected too – Disney’s Beach Club. So this means double the eats, double the shops and double the magic. You can pop in and out of each resort just as easy as it is to walk across the street. The rooms are usually 2 queens with a sofa bed (in some rooms). The views are great, even the basic Garden View can be breathtaking. And I have watched many firework shows from the resort.

The Pool:

So the #1 reason why I LOVE this resort is the main pool, Stormalong Bay. It’s nestled between the two resorts and features a LAZY RIVER. Thats right, you heard me. I could float and spin and coast on this river ALL DAY LONG. And if that wasn’t fun enough, another pool area has a sandy bottom beach. Yep, in the actual pool. I am talking sand castle building sand. Add a few slides, a few hot tubs and LOTS of chairs with umbrellas and you have the making for the BEST pool on Disney World Property.

The Boardwalk:

Both Resorts are located on a Boardwalk (not the same as the Boardwalk Resort). Disney’s Boardwalk is what you think, its a walking path that leads to entertainment of various sorts. It also connects the 2 resorts to Disney’s Boardwalk Resort. But the Boardwalk itself is filled with shops, restaurants, bars, evening entertainment and shows. You just never know what you will find on the Boardwalk. Its makes for a nice family stroll, not to mention great views.

Location, Location, Location:

As mentioned above and in the Video, I love this resort for 2 main reasons; the pool and the location. You just can’t beat the ability to WALK to 2 of the 4 Disney Parks. Walking might sound like a pain, but it beats waiting for a bus, for transportation, EVERY single time, IMO. I have even timed it, it can be faster than the boats too. Grab a coffee and walk to the parks.

Star Wars Land – Galaxy’s Edge:

So…why is this resort PERFECT for Star Wars Fans, its location. That’s right, while everyone else is stuck in traffic or trying to jump in a crowded bus…you can walk. You can walk and park hop and enjoy yourself. This is what my family is doing once Star Wars Land opens this fall and I can’t be more excited. And clearly I am not the only one planning this as Yacht Club is very much booked for many, many dates.

Top RIDES at Disney World & Disneyland

Visiting Disney can be overwhelming. Figuring out which rides to experience can be challenging. READ about my favorite rides at Disney World & Disneyland

Hey fans, I am planning on doing several helpful lists of my top rides, resort, restaurants, etc…but thought I would start with this. My TOP favorite rides in each USA Disney Theme Park. Walt Disney World AND Disneyland Resort. These are my favorite rides, for no specific reason, just the rides I love and will continue to ride over and over again. I would love to hear your list – make sure to comment.

Almost made the cut – Jungle Cruise
Magic Kingdom – Disney World:

This park is probably the hardest out of any park as there are SO many options. But for me, I am gonna say Pirates of the Caribbean. I would love to say the Pirates BEFORE they changed it, but even with the recent changes…it’s still a favorite and something I ride EVERY trip. In fact when I visited WDW pregnant, my Dr told me no pirates and well…she wasn’t on my happy list during that trip 😉 I love the song, the familiarity from childhood. And the silly, singing pirates with dirty feet and sleeping with the pigs. “We wants the Redhead.”

Epcot – Disney World:

AS this was also a hard one, it ended up being a no-brainier. One ride that I hate to miss and will fastpasses or RUN to directly after rope drop is Soarin’ Around the World. I have been SO many times, you think I would be tired of it – nope. Its just so different from other attractions. I love the smells, the sights and the feeling like you are flying, even though it can make me a little nauseous (just close your eyes).

Animal Kingdom – Disney World:

This was an easy one – Kilimanjaro Safari. Sorry Pandora fans, nothing will beat the ability to see animals roam “freely” and enjoy life eating grass and grazing. Nothing with beat watching a baby hippo splash in the pond with her mom or seeing a lion rest on pride rock. Even being a vegan, I love this ride. It feels like the animals are happy and well cared for. I love that each time it’s a different experience, morning, noon or evening.

Hollywood Studios – Disney World:

This selection might be short lived once Galaxy’s Edge opens, but for now its Toy Story Mania. This could be due to my son who makes us ride this over and over again, especially at Disneyland where we can. But its a fave. My choice would have been the Backlot Tour and it might become Rise of the Resistance, but for now…Toy Story has my heart.

Disneyland Park:

100% Dumbo!! Its been my favorite since I was a kid and since my Disney life started in California, that’s where my heart is. It’s an original attraction that made little Nina very, very happy. Even today I tear up when on the Disneyland version. It goes oddly fast for a Flying Elephant and has the most beautiful view of Fantasyland, especially at night when the lights are on.

California Adventure: Disneyland

For this park, my favorite is an attraction or an experience – I love the Animation Academy. For those that don’t know this hidden gem, its a drawing class in the park. A Disney animator teaches you how to draw a certain character using only a pencil. NO erasers. The artist in me LOVES this. I love the concept, the actual experience so much. Think about it, with a place so filled with animated characters, shows and rides…why not learn how it all started…by drawing a mouse?!?!

Learn HOW to Draw GOOFY!!

Remember this is MY personal favorite list. These aren’t necessarily the rides to RUN to or to fastpass, but they are the attractions I won’t miss. I come from a place of childhood memories, growing up in the park. This is what drives my list, drives me. I love the original attractions that Walt helped create. The attractions that draw me closer and closer for whatever emotional reason. This is what makes Disney Parks so great, so many options. So, whats your list?

Disney’s Star Wars Land – Galaxy’s Edge

Headed to Disney and wondering about Star Wars Land? READ and Learn the skinny on the situation and what you will find.

Hey guys, talking about one of my favorite topics and one that has my clients a little overwhelmed. What is Star Wars Land aka Galaxy’s Edge, do I really need to see it and how can I maximize the magic? First its currently ONLY opened at Disneyland, but the Walt Disney World opening is just weeks away and waiting has been a LONG time coming. For those who aren’t HUGE Star Wars fans or for those who want the simple breakdown – this is the post for you.

Star Wars Land – Galaxy’s Edge
Inside:

One thing people are wondering is, what exactly is Galaxy’s Edge and what’s inside. Well for starters, its a planet/place like no other, its Batuu. Its a place where the First Order (the Dark Side) has taken over and if you are lucky you will spot some members of the Resistance (the Good Side). Storm Troopers, Kilo Ren, Ray and Chewie walk around and are living life in Batuu as if its REAL. They have special signage, greetings and have NO clue about what Disney is. Its completely immersive and very much a Planet like Endor or Tatooine. Bright Suns and Rising Moons Everyone 😉

The Rides/Shops:

Currently only ONE ride is open, will be open, at Galaxy’s Edge and that’s the Millennium Falcon. Yep, you heard me…you might get the chance to pilot the Falcon and even…if super lucky…put it into hyper drive. The second ride, Rise of the Resistance is still to come later this year (Dec 5th for Disney World and January 17th 2020 for Disneyland) as the tech behind the ride is SO new and advanced, it needed more time. There are several shops in G.E., ONE being a place to design and build your very OWN lightsaber and your own robotic droid (aka BB Unit or R2 unit). Several other shops with “costumes”, creatures, plush, pins, games, etc to be found as well.

Food:

First there is the Cantina which is the HUGE draw for this planet. Of course, food isn’t really on the menu, but pre-mixed beverages are. Along with, of course, the entertainment and the fact that you are in a Star Wars Cantina. There is also a Blue/Green Milk stand (Dairy-Free), space worthy popcorn and Docking Bay 7 which is the quick service food location. NOTE: You will NOT find your usual Disney treats on this planet, as Disney doesn’t exist in Star Wars. BUT try some Star Wars treats and Enjoy!

The Skinny:

For those who want the simple breakdown…here you go. The Lightsabers are $199+ EACH and you have to purchase BEFORE you build or even enter the workshop. Droids (which are super cute and interact with the land) are $100+. Oga’s Cantina, Savi’s Workshop (lightsabers) and the Droid Depot are expected to be SO popular that Disney is having people make reservations to experience these attractions. The Blue/Green Milk is getting mixed reviews, but worth a try. The food is getting rave reviews but its also not your typical food, think food from another planet. AND since Disney doesn’t want this land flooded with people and lines, Disneyland has developed a “Boarding Group” pass that only allows a certain number of people into Batuu at a time. With this plan, I haven’t seen the line for the Falcon Ride to be longer than 45 mins which is a LOW wait time for a NEW ride. Disney World has yet to address any ride passes or Boarding System.

WDW:

I can’t say this enough, NO ONE knows what this is going to be like once its opens at Walt Disney World. It could be beyond crazy OR they could instill a last min “boarding group” pass plan that gives guests a waiting queue to enter the land, thus reducing line wait times. NO fastpasses are available or exist or will be developed for the land, especially at this time. But a boarding group could be the “fastpass” answer for this. Its working great at Disneyland. I am hoping WDW will follow suit and is paying close attention to how its working at its Californian counter-part.

For now I am helping my clients create custom plans for this regarding their personal needs and desires. As a HUGE Fan, you couldn’t keep me away but for others, it might be something to save for next time. It’s a personal choice and something I am talking about daily with my clients. Stay tuned as I will be posting more and more about this. Especially as I build my very own R2 Unit in a few weeks in Disneyland 🙂
