My FAVORITE 5 Snacks to pack for Vacation – Disney

Headed on Vacation? Worried about cranky kids, hungry picky kids or have Food Allergies? READ my TOP snacks to pack for Vacation, especially Disney.

Hey guys, after yesterdays post, I thought I would continue some packing TIPS. I love snacks, kids love snacks and even though Disney is FILLED and FILLED to the top with snacks…its not always the type of snacks I want to eat 24/7. Sometimes I want something healthier. Or something for a quick breakfast on the go. So whether you have Food Allergies or not, or on the Meal Plan (which I LOVE) packing some park snacks CAN save the day.

Cereal:

OK – you heard me. I 100% pack DRY Cereal. Its great for breakfast, a simple snack, finger foods for tots and it can be on the healthy side. Its dry, lasts forever and doesn’t melt. Cheers for Cereal!! Place in a baggie and you are good-to-go.

SUGAR – YUM – Erin McKenna’s WDW
Protein Shakes:

Since I work with hundreds of families every year, one common concern I find is parents worried about protein for the kids. My kids just eat junk, all they want is pizza, pasta and more starch. How about packing protein shakes to have in the morning with your dry cereal? I actually do this for myself, along with green juice. With all the yummy, surgery goodness that Disney can offer, why not fight it with healthy, vitamin filled protein shakes? Mine has 16 grams of protein; vegan, allergen friendly protein.

Green Juice 🙂
Healthy Bars:

This goes with the above thought…protein bars to combat the sugar. It’s also an easy item to toss in your park bag; pack a whole box in your suitcase and you are ready. Just be-careful about chocolate flavored bars…nothing’s worse then trying to eat a melted granola bar that gets everywhere and sticks to your fingers. I aim for high fiber and lower sugar.

Breakfast Bar – filled with Protein
Go-Go Fruit Pouches:

This is the perfect idea for littles. And its great for parents that worry about kids digestive systems, you know what I am talking about. Toss a few of these in your park bags to keep the kids regular and hydrated in the heat. They even make veggie ones and again I stick to low sugar, high fiber ones.

Chocolate:

OK – yep I said chocolate. I even said this after saying NO chocolate granola bars. This treat is more for the allergy kids. Disney, at one time, had an arrangement with Enjoy Life and sold SAFE chocolate bars on property. I am sad to say that I can’t find them anywhere, so I am back to packing them. When kids are offered just fruit for dessert, pop one of these out and enjoy. I am also known for sneaking 1-2 myself, mamma needs her chocolate too 😉

After Boarding…Find a Pool Chair and JUMP IN!

You should RELAX, EXPLORE, EAT and DRINK (if that’s your wish).  You should POOL, PLAY and SPLASH!!  But seriously…all of those things.  Make a list and do what’s most important.  TO me – its FOOD, how fast can I get some Disney Eats in my Belly.

For others – its finding the BEST pool spot, grabbing a chair, a drink and catching some sweet rays.  Others its…find the nearest bartender for a drink (Party time is HERE).

So many options, which to chose.  Again…make that list and decide.  Board with your swimsuit ON, board ready to grab a bite and chill.  SO many food options, Buffet, restaurant with Menu, pool grab & go eats.  You really can do it all.  You can POOL, EAT and Drink at the same time!  Head up to Deck 9/10 (depending on the ship) and go forth and conquer.  Generally speaking the Pool and Buffet are on the same deck…so follow the crowd and ENJOY!

PLEASE watch the VIDEO, Subscribe to my Channel and FOLLOW along.  I have LOTS to share and between Blogging and Vlogging…I am gonna try to share it all.

Woody’s Lunch Box – NEW Disney Dining REVIEW

Headed to Hollywood Studios?  Check out Woody’s Lunch Box, a Quick Service Dining Location at Disney World.

Hey FANS, today we will dig a little deeper into Toy Story Land and look into this NEW Dining Location in the area – Woody’s Lunch Box.  First this location is a QUICK Service location, meaning NO waitress and it means you NEED to find your own seat.  Seating is OUTDOORS and during peak times – it can be hard to find a seat.  Perhaps send one person scouting for a table, while the other orders.  SCORE if you get one in the shade.

See the Top – its a LUNCH BOX, an old school Metal Lunch Box. The side is the Thermos.

Atmosphere:

This location might be the CUTEST place I have ever eaten at.  Think the INSIDE of a kids (Andy’s) Lunch Box (old-School) with a thermos, animal crackers, juice box, etc.  This entire area is themed like that.

Food:

The Menu is basically kids lunch food, items you might send to school, items you might find in a kids cafeteria (just short of pizza/mac & cheese); Sandwiches with tots and punch.  With the BIG HIT being TOTCHOS (this is what my friend ordered and she enjoyed it).  Who doesn’t love TOTS and NACHOS!!

Quick Service Dining Menu…

My FOOD:

Disclaimer – I am vegan with LOTS of Food Allergies, so I am limited to what I can eat, but thrilled to have options.  I, do however, always travel with those that can order directly off the menu, so I am fully aware of the general items as well and if they were tasty or not (I keep notes).  For my most recent visit – I ordered BOTH items a Vegan can have.  Vegan Totchos and a Vegan (dairy-free) Grilled Cheese.  I took one for the team and ordered TOO much food.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

  • Vegan Totchos:  They came with TOTS, vegan chili (bean base), Frito’s (corn chips), dairy-free cheese shreds and green onions on top.  I am NOT a huge fake Cheese fan so next time I will ask for just a sprinkle (as they didn’t melt), but I found this option to be yummy and I 100% would order again.  My oldest kid would also enjoy this meal.
  • Vegan Grilled Cheese: I got a Vegan (dairy-free) Grilled Cheese, a mini cup of tots and a Cutie orange.  I couldn’t eat the other options so I was limited, but I love tots…just had LOTS of TOTS this day, lol.  Sadly I did not like this item, like at all.  I felt it lacked flavor for starters and why oh why do people think fake cheese needs to be mounted up.  Melted cheese was dripping and spilling out everywhere, it was extremely messy and hard to eat.  I was disappointed in this option and so glad the kids weren’t with me as they would have HATED this sandwich.  I was hoping this would be more than just bread and cheese, for the price I would have loved some flavor.  At home, I make mine with mustard and pickles, even dipping it in ketchup wasn’t enough, lol.  And please oh please…if you order this, ask for less cheese.
  • Food Allergy wise:  I found the staff very easy to talk too, they called a chef immediately (even though I knew what I could have).  The Chef/Manager cooked it themselves (I could watch them do it) after discussing the menu with me.  It did take several mins to get (but I will happily wait for SAFE food).  In fact while I was waiting, 3 other families asked for a chef behind me…seeking safe food.  The lady next to me was GF and also ordered the Grilled Cheese (Dairy version).  My meals came out with the Allergy Stick and I confirmed again that it was Dairy-Free, no cheese, no butter.

Everyone around me appeared to enjoy their food.  Lots of happy people eating.  This is a POPULAR place, so be prepared to wait in line and wait for a table.  We ended up sharing our table with an English couple seeking shelter from the sun, they also enjoyed their meal.  I was hungry and left full.  But most of all, I enjoyed looking around and seeing all the little details of this location.  Another BRAVO DISNEY!  Next time Disney, I’d suggest an actual shelter (perhaps an old Pizza Cardboard box or Cereal Box) from the sun and perhaps more tables.  I would also LOVE more options to eat (but I say this about every location; vegan soup, vegan dessert, flavorful sandwich, Vegan nuggets, etc)

I hope this helped anyone deciding to dine at Woody’s Lunch Box, its kinda a must when in the area, they have breakfast too.  And if you have Food Allergies, they were a popular place to dine and seemed able to accommodate all the allergies in line.  Mahalo for Reading and Following along – Nina
