Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – a MUST ride at Magic Kingdom?

Need HELP planning your Disney Vacation? Read ON and Learn about the Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom.

Dear Nina, we are SO excited for our trip, but with all this extra time, I thought I would research more on rides. I would love your thoughts. We are starting with Magic Kingdom. Any hidden gems? Thanks again – Heather and Family. Stay Healthy!

AS you know, I LOVE Magic Kingdom and I also love the hidden gems of ALL the Disney Parks. So…if you read my post on the PeopleMover, this could be Part 2 so to speak. Another not so popular or non coaster is Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress. Also located in Magic Kingdom, nestled in the back in Tomorrowland. But don’t let the simple facade of a building deter you, this ride is GENIUS and a fan favorite. Its practically a cult classic ride for Disney Fans.

Disney Carousel of Progress

Make sure to keep following along as I will try to discuss many rides a bit further in detail, more than I perhaps normally would in an email. Disney World is filled with wondrous treats that many aren’t aware of and usually these gems are my personal faves and MUSTS when vacationing Disney. As always, Keep following my page for more tips & tricks and make sure to watch the video at the end of these posts, I just might feature the ride or attraction in question. Why not Watch AND Read about these special experiences.

Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress:

The Carousel of Progress is an AMAZING ride/attraction, especially when you think about how it was created forever ago. Made in the 60’s and moved around from its original viewing at the New York World’s Fair, then stopped at Disneyland for a while before finding its final home at Magic Kingdom. Located near the back side of Tomorrowland, practically across from the PeopleMover and near Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

Perfect for the WHOLE Family:

For families, it’s the perfect ride. It’s great for ALL ages and I mean babies to grandparents. Its slow, simple and not at all scary. Its like watching a movie, a moving picture with animatric figures that talk, sing and tell jokes. But the big thrill is…the theater moves. That’s right, you’re in a rotating theater.

So what is it:

Like I mentioned above you’re in a moving theater that slowly rotates in a full circle, taking stops along the way. Similar to a movie, you are watching a story unfold but with an animatric family. You get to ride the exciting evolutionary journey by witnessing all the various technological advances made in the 20th century, including electricity. See how magical it was to have an ice box, enjoying the invention of air conditioning or a owning an automobile. Watch as your soon to be favorite (typical) American family goes through life and time advancing along with all the wondrous creations of the technical age. It’s very nostalgic, educational and entertaining all at the same time. Not to mention – Air conditioning. Nothing beats the heat, rain or sun like an in-door ride.

Park Classic:

Nothing brings back memories of this ride like the classic and very iconic song – There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. Like Its a Small World, this song will live in your head for days but at the same time has a very uplifting thought. Like Walt himself, this song screams positive thinking and optimism. Its almost the perfect song for these current trying times. Tomorrow is another day and there is great big beautiful tomorrow that shines at the end of every day. Between the catchy song, the nostalgia for the past and Uncle Orville (lol), this ride could be your NEW favorite.

The PeopleMover – the BEST ride at Magic Kingdom?

Need HELP planning your Disney Vacation? Read ON and Learn about the PeopleMover Ride at Magic Kingdom.

Dear Nina, we are SO excited for our trip, but with all this extra time, I thought I would research more on rides. I would love your thoughts. We are starting with Magic Kingdom. Any hidden gems? Thanks again – Heather and Family. Stay Healthy!

YAY, love hearing that. Nothing helps a gloomy day more than planning a Disney Vacation. Magic Kingdom is my FAVORITE Park, well outside of Disneyland. But its my favorite WDW Park. I am a HUGE sucker for the classic rides. Forget coasters, I want to ride Pirates and Haunted Mansion and even Dumbo over and over again. But as you mentioned, there are a few hidden gems that most people don’t brag about. You know, after talking to your friends neighbors cousin about their trip…did they ever mention a ride called the PeopleMover? My guess is no, but for many in the know, its a MUST.

Disney World is filled with wondrous treats that many aren’t aware of and usually these gems are my personal faves and MUSTS when vacationing Disney. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover:

The PeopleMover (so simply named) is located in the Magic Kingdom. Its in the Tomorrowland area and an easy miss for many vacationers. The ride actually takes place ABOVE all the walkers and visiting guests. So when entering the ride, all you really see is a walkway elevator taking you up. Its nestled near some counter service eats and next to the Astro Orbiter (the space rocket ride you can see from a far). So in reality…it really is a Hidden Gem. I can only assume many just walk right past it, assuming since not a coaster, its something you can miss 🙁

Perfect for the WHOLE Family:

For families, its the perfect ride. Its great for ALL ages and I mean babies to grandparents. Its slow, simple and not at all scary. Sometimes you pass through a dark tunnel, but its quick and you can usually see the light at the end. If your kids like trains or the monorail, this would be a MUST.

So what is it:

It is what the name says…it moves people. Its a simple tracked ride where you enter and sit and watch and enjoy. It takes you above the park and through tunnels, buildings and rides, its a basic overview of the Tomorrowland area. Kinda like a train without the chaga chaga, choo choo. Its the perfect ride to relax, take in some air conditioning and get out of the sun for a while. As a kid, I LOVED this ride as it gave you a sneak preview into Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear. There are no hills or scary turns, only time it speeds up is to take a corner. The corners are the big thrill.

The Views:

I think my FAVORITE part of this ride, outside of watching other guests enjoy Disney are the views. Since this ride takes you around the Tomorowland area, above the people below, you get some good looks without a lot of obstruction. Love the castle, construction of NEW ideas and other rides in the area. You can even see some characters walking around or greeting guests. Buzz & Woody are common in this area. I love the breeze in my face and lights and colors should you ride at night. WARNING: it is hard to snap a decent picture as you do move at a good pace, so just enjoy it.

So give it a chance and enjoy! Just remember there is more to Disney than just coasters and rides you hear about from friends.

Boy Meals at Disney World

Thinking about heading to Disney World, but you have ALL boys. Worried that Disney is too much princess and not enough Pirate, READ ON…

Dear Nina, I saw your recent FB Post on getting Princess meals for some little girls. As fun as that sounds, what do you do for boys? I have all boys and I don’t think they will enjoy a Princess Meal. Do you have any suggestions? Where should we eat? Any Cars, Toy Story or Star Wars Meals? Any boy meals at Disney World? HELP!?!? We are so excited to be working with you, thanks for booking our dining. Sam.

Hey Sam, thanks for the question and I actually get this often. Disney is a LOT of Princess, it is. Princesses are in most every Disney Movie and are the foundation for Walt’s early Animations, story-lines. So it makes since that Disney would promote Princesses, but I get it. I have a boy too:)

So read below for some suggestions on boy meals at Disney World. But if it helps, my son has done ALL of the Princess Meals and loved them. You would be amazed how flirty and cute the little boys get when meeting Ariel or Aurora. Its a precious moment. And I have had boy families enjoy a princess meal or two, for the Boy Moms wanted to fulfill their own dreams. The boys took one for the team and secretly enjoyed it 🙂 Keep following my page for more tips & tricks and I can’t wait to book your dining:

Toy Story:

Many families ask me about a Toy Story meal and as there isn’t currently a Toy Story Meal with characters, you can enjoy a fun Quick Service Meal in Toy Story Land called Woody’s Lunch Box. And NOTE – a NEW Table Service Toy Story meal is in the making, but we don’t know if it will or will not be a character meal at this time. Here’s hoping.

Sci-Fi Dine-In:

I love this restaurant location and so does my son. As I don’t want to classify it as a boy meal, it does involve classic cars and sci-fi, lol. Who wouldn’t want to dine in a classic car while watching vintage sci-fi commercials on a giant movie theater screen WHILE eating classic Americana eats like Burgers, Fries and Milkshakes. NOTE: you can get Vegan or Dairy-Free Shakes!! Our FAVORITE treat!

Character Meals:

There are also several NON Princess Character Meals on property. Again, can’t call them boy meals, but boys love them too. Try Tusker House, Garden Grill, Ohana, or Chef Mickeys. You might meet Minnie, but she loves all 🙂 Sadly there aren’t any rough and tumble boy character meals like say Pirates/Peter Pan or Star Wars Characters but that would be amazing. Disney, if you are reading, this is what we want!!

PRO- TIP:

Since there aren’t any Character Meals set for just boys, per-say, I found that knowing where to meet those characters your boys are hoping to find saves the day. You can 100% meet Woody, Buzz, Chewie, Kilo Ren, Lightning McQueen and even Cruz. Princesses might seem everywhere, thanks to those Disney commercials, but they really aren’t. Plenty of magic for all to enjoy. As your Travel Agent we can discuss this at great detail to make sure we are booking the right “boy” meals for your family. But in general, I find most meals are perfect for all, boys & girls alike.
