Why I LOVE Disney, let me count the ways…

Wondering why people think Disney is the BEST Vacation? Curious why people will go back and back and back again? READ on for Why I Love Disney.

Hey Fans, I am sitting here trying to think about what to post next and I remembered a visit we just had at the Eye Doctor. She, our Dr, had recently visited a few “other” theme park destinations and was very disappointed as they just weren’t Disney. As I am listening to her story, she is explaining what she noticed and how Disney is just SO much better and worth the price difference. So…it got me thinking…for those that are NEW to Disney, who haven’t tasted the Disney Kool-Aid yet – here are a few reasons why we love to Disney.

Service:

So this is no secret, Disney is known for its amazing service. But I often get asked for examples. I have thousands, but of course can’t name them all but here are a few that stand out, at the moment. The Cast Members, those sweet Disney employees. They are there to help create the Magic, they are part of the show. This means doing everything and anything, most of the time unexpectedly. Like the time a Cast Member sent my son a cake for his birthday. Still clueless on how that happened, allergy safe too. Or the time a CM saw my daughter and I walking down main street and asked us if we had Memory Maker. I said, yes…so he walked us to a secret location and took the most incredible pictures of us.

Cleanliness:

So this gets mentioned by my clients ALL THE TIME. They can’t believe how clean the parks are. Disney really does go out of their way to have the cleanest parks. Walt would walk Disneyland and watch park-goers. He would watch them get a snack, eat it and see how many steps it took before they were ready to trash. This is why trash cans are everywhere and they are strategically placed based on where the snacks/eats are. ALL CM’s are to pick up trash anytime they see it, no matter their title. NO Gum is sold at the parks, so no sticky rides, walkways or table tops. There are more examples, but trust me…Disney is very clean.

Themeing:

Disney has the BEST theming. In fact they created the concept, it adds to the magic. Some “other” parks have great theme placement too, but its not the ENTIRE park, usually just a section. Disney’s attention to detail is hands down amazing. Did you know that each “land” has different music and as you walk thru the different zones, the music changes…it’s so subtle you barely notice it unless you are looking for it. The entire park is themed and the transitions from one to the other are spotless. Heck, even the garbage cans are in character. CM costumes are another example. Did you know they aren’t allowed to walk from one land to another if they are in a specific lands costume. Make sure to look up and around and see the details, the hidden Mickeys and the transitions from one area to the next.

Positive Vibes:

Disney is happy. It feels happy the moment you arrive, enter the park and walk around. The colors, the music, the gardens, the people…just happiness all around. The cast members are happy. As you walk down Main Street, they are smiling at you, welcoming you, waving and almost cheering you on for a good day. I love how even the security guards are happy and smiling. As they go through bag after bag, listening to who knows what from other park-goers…they are cheerful.

There are probably thousands of reasons why Disney is amazing. Why I can say…I love Disney to the Moon and Back. Why I will go over and over again AND I am not alone. The reason they are a bazillion $$ company. Once people drink the Disney Kool-Aid, they are hooked. I have several clients who claim they are only going once, a ONE and DONE vacation…well they went back and back again. If you’ve been, why do you LOVE Disney. Let me know in the comments.

Things TO DO Before Vacation: Packing for Disney

Headed out on vacation and afraid you will forget something? READ this list: Packing for Disney World & Beyond.

Hey guys, I am headed on vacation here in a few weeks. And one thing I always worry about is forgetting something. And I don’t mean, just packing items. I know many of you also have “nightmare” like dreams before a trip. READ this list of things not to forget to do BEFORE vacation: Packing for Disney World.

Hair and Nails:

I find this to be a COMMON item that people want to do before a trip, but often forget as time draws closer. So ladies don’t forget to spruce up your color, get those “Disney” nails and make sure those feet are cute shoes ready. Guys – don’t forget to trim your hairs too. And don’t forget the kids, they need beauty maintenance too. Now for those that might be wondering, why?? Why do I need to get my hair done – PICTURES. Most people on vacation take TONS of pictures and often are seeking out that amazing family pic.

My Disney Toes. Sorry if toes gross you out – eek.
Toiletry Shopping:

I can NOT tell you how many times I ask my husband if he needs anything at the store…just to have him write items on the list AFTER I went shopping. As annoying as this is on a week basis…its very, very frustrating ONE day before your trip. So make sure EVERYONE looks in their toiletry bags, bathroom cabinets, etc and shop for all your beauty items BEFORE you go. These “oops” I forgot to pack items can be costly. This majorly includes Sunscreen, Aloe and Deodorant. So make a list, check all your bags and shop ahead.

Clothes:

So I don’t just mean packing clothes…I mean making sure you have the right clothes for the right vacation. AND I also mean, clothes that fit. I have this issue every trip. Based on temps, location, style of trip and if I added a pound or two, certain items might need to be replaced. And KIDS, make them try on their summer shorts (especially if winter) and see if you need to purchase the next size up. Bathing suites and shoes too. Do this in advance, 2 days before your trip just adds more stress than needed.

Park Bags:

I find it VERY helpful to pack my “park” bag BEFORE the trip. I do this for a few reasons. 1 – make sure you OWN everything you need. 2 – helps you see if you are bringing too much and perhaps need 2 backpacks. 3 – it prevents you from forgetting something at the last minute. Rushing to the parks in the morning it tough enough, but finding you forgot an item is worse. Practice and pack ahead.

RANDOM:

I get many emails about people forgetting certain things…so to prevent vacation “nightmares” and I mean during sleep time. Label your suitcases NOW. Add your luggage tags NOW. Pack your swimsuits, sunscreen and such items NOW. Put your Magicbands in your bags NOW. Make lists and cross of items as you pack.

Hope this helps prevent any packing drama incidences. I have become a PRO at packing, travel in general and traveling with kids.

Should I PACK my Camera for Disney, for vacation?

Headed to Disney? Wondering if you need to bring your REAL camera, Memory Maker? READ this and see…

Hey guys, thought I would answer a common question I get. Cameras, to bring or not to bring, that is the question?? Sadly this isn’t an easy answer and 100% dependent on your type of vacation and the type of pictures you want. It also matters if you are getting the Memory Maker (Disney World) or another Disney picture package. Should I pack my Camera for Disney?

YES:

So, yes, PACK your camera if you are a photographer. 100%!! People who are actually trained, do for a living photographers will not be happy or content without their vices, aka camera. This is where I fall as well, not only do I have professional camera training but per my job…I take THOUSANDS of images and video on vacation, its a MUST to pack. In fact, crazy me packs 2-4 cameras with backup batteries. I have special lenses, a camera backpack and a few tri-pods. Only a “crazy” person needs to bring this, and by crazy I mean devoted 😉

NO:

For those who are staying for a few days, who have the Memory Maker package AND for those who are happy with cell phone images, you can leave your camera at home. Cameras are bulky, add another item to carry and can be annoying to remember to charge. Even a smaller Point & Shoot can be a pain. I mean you have your phone in hand, use that. Need to quickly capture some Magic…you need to have that camera at the ready (as I do). For those just wanting to enjoy, your cell is fine.

Maybe:

So the maybe is for the in-between people. Perhaps you love your camera, take it everywhere and plan on capturing images that the Disney photographers can’t. Or for whatever reason need a camera. I urge people to remember the heat and how heavy a camera can feel after a few hours. So for those who want to take GOOD images, I usually suggest a nice “Point & Shoot” verses bringing the DSLR (the Big Boy as I call them). I think in “normal” situations they aren’t needed and just become another thing to protect against the rain, heat and water rides.

So as I am the worst person to ask, this is my advice. Do as I suggest, not as I do. I am rarely without a camera. Different ones are used for different reasons and when one has died, I move the next one. I use my cell on water rides as its waterproof and pack special bags for the others. Its alot going on. My kids and husband even joke when we are in the park and see something I didn’t photograph as they still think I am silly for taking a picture of garbage cans, lol. “Mom, did you see that vent or sewer cover?” They think they are SO funny.

“Incredible” Garage Cans!!

Anyways, I hope this helped. Cameras are great but add an extra layer of packing and something to remember. If you can, go light and get the Memory Maker. Mahalo for READING and FOLLOWING along – Nina
