Headed to Disney World and have Motion Sickness concerns? Wondering what rides would be best for you and kids? READ ON about Animal Kingdom…
Hey Fans, after getting a call (from one of you) I was inspired to write this post. When asked what your FAVORITE ride at Disneys Animal Kingdom Park is, many will say Flights of Passage. But this isn’t always the case. Some people experience issues with motion, are worried about simulated rides and/or are little kids. So here is my list for people like me, perhaps so-called ride chickens or those with motion sickness issues – Enjoy.
So in FULL disclosure this ride does have a warning on it, for motion and other health issues. But in ride terms, I don’t find this experience to be all that bad for motion sickness. You are in a Jeep like vehicle and drive over dirt/mud/chained roads…so of course there is some bumping. But nothing like a large hill or motion simulated rides. Other than some huge bumps (road divots), this ride is a NON-issue for me. Expect bumps, hold tight to your camera and enjoy! Look out for the NEW babies recently born.
So this is an easy one. Of course shows don’t have any motion issues. But what many don’t realize is the 2 main shows at Animal Kingdom Park are hands-down amazing. They might even be award winning. The Festival of the Lion King is amazing; complete with puppetry, acrobatic monkeys, flying “birds” and fire dancing. I mean it screams, come have a good time. The Finding Nemo show is just as spectacular. Jaw dropping puppetry acting, fun story-line, amazing sets and interactive actors that perform in the seating areas.
Kali River Rapids:
Water Ride AHEAD – so this ride can be a little motion induced, but nothing I can’t handle once. For sure not over and over again. You board a GIANT pool inter-tube that can spin and bump and dip in rushing, splashing waters. There are a few little hills or dips, but nothing to intense. The worse part of this experience is “who is gonna get wet” or wait…that is also the FUN part of the ride 😉 Pop on a poncho, wrap your gear in a bag and enjoy.
Na’vi River Journey:
This is the “other” ride in the Pandora area. Not many talk about this one as the other one gets all the fame. But this little boat ride (considered a Disney “Dark” ride) is very calm, peaceful and beyond colorful. My kids love it and its something we can ride over and over again. If you haven’t seen the Avatar movies, its ok. The bright colors, moving creatures are very imaginative and creative and keep you intrigued. The Shaman in the end might seem a little strange if you haven’t seen the movie, but the peaceful chats and music help smooth that over. Great for kids!
So if you have kiddies, ride chickens or experience Motion Sickness, I hope this list helped. Not all rides are for everyone and we all have our favorites.
